We believe that a safe home is the foundational human right necessary for dignity and life. Our Housing for the Homeless program is dedicated to replacing tents and temporary structures with permanent, safe homes for the poor, disabled, and displaced families of northern Pakistan.
The Key to a New Life: For countless families, receiving the key to a new home is life-changing. Consider the story of a widowed mother in Barinis who, along with her children, had been living under torn plastic sheets for years. The home she received from UHO provided a stable, secure foundation, allowing her children to focus on their education and giving the entire family protection against the harsh northern weather. This is the dignity and stability we strive to deliver with every foundation laid.
UHO’s home construction initiative is a direct response to the lack of secure housing in our operational areas. So far, forty-four homes have been successfully constructed and handed over to poor and disabled families in regions like Hakim Abad and Barinis. These homes are more than just four walls; they provide shelter, safety, and the assurance of dignity for families who previously faced extreme vulnerability in temporary conditions.
Our work in this sector often intersects with disaster relief. Following the 2025 flash floods that devastated Buner, UHO immediately launched the project ‘Chat Ka Tuhfa’ (Gift of Roof), through which we began building twenty new homes to permanently re-shelter the victims.

20 Homes Under Construction: Current active project (‘Chat Ka Tuhfa’) building homes for the 2025 flood victims in Buner.
Provide Permanent Shelter: The core goal is to ensure safety, dignity, and stability for families previously living in temporary shelters.
